I'm not talking about Katy Perry, rather my little sweetheart who has turned into a monster! For Halloween anyways. Well, a lot of other days too. Lol.
Lately, Cora has been on this monster kick. She was suddenly scared of monster in her room at night, so Joel decided to do something about it. Him and Cora made it a bedtime routine to scare the monsters away before she was all tucked in. They would use a flashlight and sneak into corners, closets, and under the bed and yell, "Boo!" to scare them away. And it worked wonders. She just loves it so much it's more like a giggle fest, than scaring fest.
So, when I asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween this year, without much hesitation, she said, "monster!" I'd be lying if I didn't try to convince her of something else. I tried to get her to want to be kitty cat. I already had the stuff for one. But her heart was set on being a monster, so I tried to commit to that.
Time went by and it was the weekend before Halloween and I hadn't even started to make the costume! Thankfully, I had most of the items already that I needed to make it. I just had to go out and get some yarn. So, I guess you can say, it was a $4 costume!
I got my inspiration from Boo on Monsters Inc. and another costume I saw on Pinterest. I basically combined the two. And in 3 hours we had our own special monster! Cora absolutely loved it and could not wait to go out trick-or-treating.
I used a blanket I got from a flight when I got bumped up to first class. It was this thin fleece material in burgundy. And some black felt for the eyes, and white felt for the dots. Then I just hot glued some styro foam balls for the eyes.

I love this time of year and I'm sure it's gonna end up being Cora's too! On to the next holiday!
