diy t-shirt to scarf?

I cleaned out my closet yesterday and had a pretty good pile once I was done. I then browsed through Pinterest and got some neat ideas for some home decor, crafts, and things to do with your old clothes! This one in particular got my attention. She had an old t-shirt and made a summer scarf from it. I got some inspiration. Cool thing about it was that it really only took less than 20 minutes! The original tutorial can be found here. I kinda did my own so it looks slightly different.

First pick a shirt you don't mind cutting up. I used one I cleaned out of my closet.

Cut the hem off the bottom.

Cut straight across right under the armpits.

Then cut about 1/2 inch strips.

They don't have to be perfect since they'll curl.

Then take the pieces and stretch them, it doesn't take much so don't pull too hard.

Now this shirt had seems, so to cover them up, I used the hem of the shirt and wrapped it around the seem in a knot.

It had two seems. Next time I think a shirt with no or only one seem would be best.

The finished product! I love it even though I'm not really a yellow person. It also looks like a sort of necklace.

I happened to be wearing a black shirt this day, but I probably wouldn't wear it with the scarf normally.
