Sock monkey baby

As I had said before, I made Cora's Halloween costume this year using a sweater from the thrift store. I paid $2 for the sweater, which was almost heartache to cut up because it really was a nice sweater by Liz Claiborne. But I was so lucky to find one that had the perfect color and material I needed. So I did cut up and babyfied it. I procrastinated horribly to start it. I finally did a few days before Halloween and it took me off and on all day.

For those of you who look at my Facebook page, you know I take a monthly picture of Cora with her pink sock monkey to keep track of how big she gets. So it seemed fitting to have her as a sock monkey for the holiday! Although, bad mommy forgot to take a picture of her with the sock monkey. And bad mommy forgot to bring the camera with us when we went trick-or-treating. (So hopefully bad mommy can get copies from Uncle Steve, who well documented the night.)

But before I forgot my camera, I took some pictures of Cora in her costume. It turned out great and fit her to a T!
Isn't she cute?!

She was more interested in playing with the leaves and sticks than having her picture taken.

The red scarf was a last minute add-on made from fleece.
I made an opening in the sleeves so she could use her hands still.

The white fabric was also an old sweater of mine that didn't fit me anymore. I had to add some pink so Cora wouldn't be called a boy, which still happened.

It's actually velcroed all the way down. The buttons are just for pretty.

This is the sweater before. I cut the collar off and used it for the hat. The sleeves I used for multiple things, like the tail and smaller sleeves. I pretty much used the body of the sweater for the whole costume. I just used a pattern from one of her pj's.
