toasted "burnt" pumpkin seeds

I saved the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin I carved last week for Halloween. I wanted to try and toast them. I've never done it before, so I looked up a recipe for them. There are a lot of recipes for pumpkin seeds. So I just picked one that had the best reviews and sounded good. It was very easy to prepare and I'm sure to cook, but with watching 3 kids and forgetting about the timer, they were slightly on the burnt side. Sigh. I was really looking forward to eating them. I tried them but all I tasted was the burnt. I took pictures of the preparation, but none of the burntness. I may have been a little upset and thrown them out.

So after I rinsed the seeds off, I soaked them in a combination of melted butter, seasoned salt, and worcestershire sauce. I did this over night, but you could really just let it set a couple hours.

I then patted them dryish.

Then spread them on a baking sheet.

Then popped them in the oven for an hour at 250 degrees.  I flipped them at half an hour, then when the hour was up, they didn't look all the way done. This is also where I screwed up. So I bumped the oven up to 300 degrees and was just gonna leave them in there for a few more minutes. Well the few more minutes ended up being 20 minutes! I forgot to set the timer with all the commotion going on. Then the smell of something burning caught my attention. So yeah, I was a little upset after preparing them for a day!

The original recipe can be found here. I'm sure if you followed it and don't forget about them, they would've been great!
