What can I do with 2 yds of fabric: baby dress

I still had some left over fabric, so I thought I'd try a hand at making a baby dress. I never attempted making one before so I had no idea how it would turn out.

I first sketched the pattern and measured. A very rough and quick sketch.

I then cut the fabric and stitched the sides.

I wanted to use elastic rather than a zipper or buttons, so to run the elastic through I had to use a safety pin.

Once the elastic was through the bottom skirt piece, I attached the top piece. I used some ribbon for the straps and bias tape along the bottom. For the diaper cover, I actually didn't have enough fabric! So I used black legging tights to match. All in all, it was a fairly easy pattern but took me a couple hours just to make sure I was doing it right.

She's such a pretty little model!
