I had blinds on my kitchen window before. I didn't really care for them and I wanted something a little more my style. I had two yards of fabric I bought on sale at JoAnn's (great store for buying fabric). I initially got it for curtains but had some left over and decided to use it rather than stash it away. I can't put in this post what else I used it for because it was for my sister-in-laws birthday present (her birthday is today). So I'll have to wait until I give it to her. This is how I did my curtain:
I measured the window and cut the fabric to size.
I pinned where I was going to hem. Which is along all sides. Really this is a pretty simple project because it's just a big square.
I love being able to use my sewing machine! Anyways I used it to hem the sides.
I left the side that was going to be the top a loop so the curtain rod would fit through it.
Voila! I used grosgrain ribbon as ties to pull it up and it looks great in the window.
